The SISITINE CHAPEL in the PAROCHIALKIRCHE BERLIN
Welcome to the Parochialkirche in the monastery quarter of Berlin. In additional to his 780 year history, Berlin offers a diverse cultural landscape that connects tradition and modernity in a unique way, visibly and invisibly. Women and men of Berlin live together with people from all over the world who are here on a trip or for longer stays. The numerous ecclesiastical locations and other places that have contributed to contemporary history, the selection of museums, cultural institutions and theatres, provide a vivid and creative life and interaction in the city. The face of Berlin changes daily and makes this city a unique place in Europe.
We are happy to welcome you in the name of the Protestant church community St. Petri-St. Marien in the exhibition “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel” in the Parochialkirche. The Parochialkirche was once built as a sign of religious tolerance in Berlin, at the beginning of the 18th century. In this exhibition, you can see 34 incomparable masterpieces of Michelangelo. You can admire them close up on colourfast canvas art prints, and unique information about each picture is provided with ample time to spend. In the future, the Parochialkirche will be the home of the Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage Foundation, where it will be possible to see sacred regional art.
With your ticket, you support a project of our church community that is already taking shape at the Petriplatz – the House of One. Jews, Christians and Muslims are working together to build a house, under whose roof you will find a synagogue, a church and a mosque. A house of prayer and learning. A house of meeting, for the acquaintance and the communication of people with different religions. Even a house for those who are quite distant from the religion. A house that stands for peaceful coexistence. Thank you very much for your support.
We are glad that the creators and the organizers of the exhibition, the YOLO Event and their team, succeeded in presenting this exhibition in Berlin starting in February 2018, making it accessible for anyone. We are looking forward to seeing you here and wish you a wonderful time at the exhibition and the Parochialkirche.
