Les Éditions Albert René
On October 1, 1979, Albert Uderzo founded his own publishing house under the first names of its two original authors: Albert and René. The mission of Les Editions Albert René is triple-fold:
- To publish the Asterix the Gaul albums and comic books created by Albert Uderzo after 1979, and to reissue other albums and comic books that were created before 1959 with René Goscinny (like Jehan Pistolet and Oumpah-pah)
- To initiate new projects: releasing albums, comic books, films, cartoons, and local and international exhibitions (to ensure the continued international renown of the Gaulish village throughout the world)
- To manage the rights of the Asterix universe by granting licenses for advertising and product tie-ins, including those of the Parc Asterix amusement park.
On December 2008, Hachette Livre acquired a majority share in Les Editions Albert René. Since then, it has acquired full ownership.
