A virtual planet devoted to Michael Jackson is being created online as a world where fans can go to celebrate the life of the late “King of Pop.”

SEE Virtual Worlds™, an entertainment company developing a virtual reality universe of connected planets tied to licensed franchises, today announced a collaborative deal with the Michael Jackson Estate to publish Planet Michael™, a massively multiplayer online virtual world set to launch in late 2011.

Michael Jackson will soon go from being the King of Pop to the ruler of his own world of avatars.

Planet Michael will live inside the Entropia Universe, a so-called “massively multiplayer online” game that has about 100,000 active users and is run by the Swedish company Mind Ark.

SEE Virtual Worlds and the Michael Jackson Estate announced Planet Michael, a virtual world based on the late pop star and “the global issues that concerned him”, which will launch next year.

Planet Michael, which has the backing of the late singer’s estate, will be release next year. The developer, See Virtual Worlds, said the online multiplayer game would feature its own real-world economy and provide players with opportunities to learn about and contribute to charitable causes.

It has been 15 months since Michael Jackson died, leaving his Neverland in limbo. But a virtual Neverland is in the works as a tribute to the late King of Pop. Planet Michael, an online virtual world devoted to Jackson’s life, music and concerns, being developed to open late next year, will combine features of a massively multiplayer online game and social network.

The Michael Jackson estate will announce on Tuesday that it has made a deal with the company SEE Virtual Worlds to release Planet Michael, a 3D computer environment that will be part of the Entropia Universe game platform.
